Eastern SD | I'm suprised to see the 'whole plant' technology being implemented already on a production plant scale. Anybody heard which plant this is going to be? Will this be accomplished by baling stalks, or could you shop it to sileage after the entire plant has dried down for storage?

A Sioux Falls-based ethanol developer plans to convert an Iowa ethanol plant into one of the world's first large-scale producers of ethanol from crop waste.
There's no word yet on which of the six ethanol plants managed by Broin Companies in the Hawkeye state will be used for the project.
The plant will not only use corn kernels to make ethanol, but it'll also use the stalks, leaves and cobs. The converted plant will cost 220 million dollars and will make 125 million gallons of ethanol a year.
Broin is applying for an 80 million dollar federal grant to help pay for the conversion.
The firm says there's a huge need for more ethanol alcohol for fuel in the US, and one way of doing it is to use the entire corn plant.
