Subject: Corn

Brazilton KS

When did corn suddenly quit producing a large root mass? When I studied crop science and agronomy something like 45% of the biomass in a corn plant was below ground. Did somebody repeal this?

Reduced tillage will do far more to increase OM then harvesting whole plants can ever do to reduce it.
