Subject: Soybean ground

SE SD
Was talking with a couple other consultants and the subject of hard soybean ground was brought up. I remember 20 years ago almost getting stuck in the field with a two wheel drive pickup because the ground was so mellow. It definitely is not now. How long has it been since soybeans mellowed out your ground?

The other thing that was brought up was where there has been more rainfall the ground seems to be harder on top. From coast to coast where there has been minimal rainfall the ground is more mellow. Coincidence? A smaller livestock guy who's holding pond was always bubbling due to microbial activity, quit after a they had a couple big rains. He noticed this right away and then talking with clients across the country this was the only thing in common that we could think of. Any idea what's going on?
