Anamoose, ND | I am looking at adding micronutrients to my fertilizer program for spring wheat. Currently I am using a dry fertilizer blend of 11-52-0 and 0-0-60 (potash) placed in the seed row as starter. I spoke with one agronomist who recommended getting both zinc and sulfate into the mix. I know MicroEssentials SZ would be a good option but I already have all of my 11-52 and potash purchased for this growing season. How else could I get zinc into my program? I don't like the idea of using dry Zinc Sulfate for the simpler reason that at the low rate of 5 or 10 lbs/ac you have too much distance between fertilizer prills to make a significant difference. Is there a liquid zinc product I could use when I spray my herbicides and fungicides at the 3 to 5 leaf stage?
I believe I will use 21-0-0-24 (AMS) mid row banded as a source of sulfur.
How about boron and magnesium, how do I add them into my program?
