Subject: can you plant corn too thick?

mid minnesota
I have planted with a JD 7000 for a quite a few years and liked the spacing . But this year I bought a 900 IH ,I like the center fill. The moniter said 29000 to 32000 which I wanted but it looks thicker than the JD. Plant vary from 2 to 6-7 inchs. Corn looks nice and green and starting to tassle. Put down 200lbs starter and 120 of andhoydros. Just thinking ?
