I'm not talking when you were a kid, but when you became the guy in charge. So what was that "someday" tractor that was new when you started? Also what was that first " it's never going to get any better" tractor?
I started farming on my own in 1999. As a young dairy farmer, I had a real desire for a 4440. They were the perfect tillage, chopping, manure hauling, everything tractor. In 2002 ...????..??. went full time farming at age 24. I had a couple of old binders, but nothing with a nice cab. I told my banker I really needed a nice tractor with a cab, since I was doing fieldwork at night, and choring all day. Thank goodness I didn't have a smart phone and agtalk back then, or I'd have never got done with chores! He told me if I can make it a year without needing money to get bailed out of any problems, he'd go along with a nice tractor. At about 13 months I bought my 4450. I think I slept in the cab I was so excited. The new tractor that I really wanted was a 7810. That came later. Not as my main horse, but my farming operation had changed. The 7810 is still the finally got it! tractor though. Anyway, what were your tractors?
