Subject: Re: cost of hauling

Culbertson, MT
I ran a 535 for years, and am now in a 566, both twine machines (I use Clearfield plastic). IF you have the new style laces on your belts and the belts are in good shape, I'd turn the dial all the way up. On my 566, this puts the pressure needle just off of the redline. My haying partner runs a 567 w/ wrap, and we had his set up the same way this year; performance was better in his opinion. The biggest benefit we see is how they trasport. 2 or 3 years back I sent 700 bales to a customer 300 miles SE, and the bales were just as solid when unloaded as in the field. Any haulers I have had comment on how well the bales trasnport, so I think its well worth it. HOWEVER, don't skimp on the string if you go this route. In my humble opinion, twine is relatively cheap. The extra pressure needs to be contained in the bale. I set my size at 64-66" diameter so if I get into some really good stuff and have to use the old 4010 later, I can still lift 'em up!! tom
