Subject: RE: Picking corn by hand......

Cherokee County, Northwest Iowa
Interesting video-thanks. I had forgotten about listening in on a conversation which my father and his step-mother having once about picking corn by hand. She had a tough life growing up and picked more than her fair share of corn. Once again, I forgot the details-most people used a husking hook, but she preferred a husking peg, or vise-versa. I have one or the other of those hanging in the shed at the farm, don't know which, and couldn't begin to fathom how to use it.

what started this whole conversation yesterday was about backing up wagons, and I said "And to think that our fore-fathers used to back up wagons with horses" , and the two others both shook their heads in agreement.
