Central In | I did Leonard Wood in the summmer of 1957. They had coal fired stoves in the mess hall. I was the first ones to get the new green dress uniforms,
The infiltration course with the machine guns had muddy holes going under the wires. I did get some blisters from the lye soap..working kp once.
Leonard Wood was so rocky that you couldn't hardly drive a tent peg. [Fort Polk was so sandy that pegs would hardly hold]. That part of Missouri was so hilly that the only level places were the rifle range row of targets and the airport at Waynesville where I kept my plane for about a month while stationed at the Fort. The group I was with was from Indiana and Illinois. | |
