Chariton Iowa
Problem here is no one wants to pay for quality,. I can sell ditch hay easier. People want to buy by the bale instead of by the ton. They think a 1100# twine tied ditch weed bale at $60 is a good buy over a #1900-#2000 excellent alfalfa mix 3 cut netted for $80-$100. We tried to send some to auction last spring and couldn't get a truck in to haul it. Appears to be a shortage of hay haulers. And also the bad checks!

Like everything, it can be great but also a lot of negative that goes along with selling hay.
Used to hear that the only market to break the buyer and the seller is the hay market.
