SC MN | In my finishing barns I pour a 4" thick concrete feeder pad on top of the slats to set the feeders on to help prevent wear on the slats around the feeders. In a couple of barns, I used 3/8" stainless wedge anchors to fasten the feeders down. About 95% of them came loose over time. Updated the barn this spring by repouring the pads and instead this time used Hilti V3-500 epoxy and their 3/8" stainless anchors. I have other barns where the feeders were held by stainless bolts set into the wet cement, and have never had any issues with them coming loose. I think epoxying them in is the closet thing to setting them in the fresh cement. We'll see in a few years if I was right. | |
