Subject: RE: FAIR TRADE

SE ND
Allowing China basically full access to our market (the biggest market in the world) with no to very low tariffs while they charge US soybean farmers a 16% tariff when we want to sell soybeans to China is fundamentally unfair. There is no other way to spin it. As was said above, essentially we pay for China to invest in Brazil and become even bigger competition.

That being said...China is a sovereign nation. If, because of geopolitical and security reasons, they want to help Brazil grow more soybeans, that is perfectly within their right. But it is also totally within our right to equally respond to them and restrict China's access to our market. We have the big stick, access to our market. Maybe a 16% tariff on ALL the crap China wants to sell us? Fair trade.

If China wants access to our market, they should give us fair access to their market for things we produce and they need. This is fundamental fairness.

Everyone will loose in a full out trade war, but China as the world's sweatshop would be utterly devastated if they lost access to our market. It would hurt us some but we would recover. We hold all the cards. That is why the President is correct to end the status quo now. Much better days are coming!
