Well I said optimal not maximum.... I have never seen anyone turn off irrigation and let a crop burn-up.
On gravity Farms sometimes the last set gets watered a week or 10 days after the first set. That last set can look like the picture greencountry posted here a day ago. In the fall at Harvest usually the yield monitor will show no difference between what got watered first and what got watered last.
