my county only received a wheat payment. Some farms still have some minor wheat base acres, didn't amount to enough to buy a dinner for wife and me.
If you had above average yields in 2016, there should be no payments on ARC as that is yield based, so the program did what it was intended to. If someone chose PLC, especially wheat base acres, PLC greatly outperformed ARC this year is what it was intended to do. Sound like the program is working as planned. If you have no base acres, then someone screwed up in mid 1980's when base acres were established. I remember we had some farms with over 100% base acres in mid 80's when we could move base acres to different farms that had under 100% base. Most our acres were 100% base or very close. I would expect a farm with no base acres is adjusted for in the rent or was adjusted for in purchase price. |
