Just had a call from a friend in Central ND. He thought mid-June he might not have a harvest this year.
By mid July, he thought he might be over 20, possibly 25. He was surprised after harvest to find he averaged just over 40 bu/ac on all farms.
He said newer wheat varieties have much better yield potential under drought that he realized.
Not that he wouldn't like 60 or 70 bushels but 40 was unexpected.
Twenty years ago 2017 growing conditions would have shut wheat down completely.


Central and Eastern ND guys don't really know what dry is.
