Subject: RE: recreational tillage?

We do lots of tillage like in the terms of dozens of passes in some of our specialty crops and every pass is penciled out with a cost.

It takes a labor cost to drive the tractor the cost of the fuel the cost of the tractor per hour not including the wear on the implement cost.

Even then there has been times in the past where we tried to cut back 2 or 3 passes out of the equation and the loss per acre was in the 4 digit range per acre.

I think the most recreational tillage here would be discing, mowing or spraying the field edges, non crop areas and roadsides maybe regrading a dirt road.

My grandpa was good for that when he retired from the managent and office side of the business. He got bored and started gardening the edges... It would piss my dad off but it would get him out of grandmas hair.
