I would do the unthinkable maybe. Shoot to maime. Easier said than done I know. Never understood why officers always shoot to kill even when they shoot "thugs" in the back as they are running away. And yes I know the saying "do not aim a gun at something unless you aim to kill it". Even if it were your kid.
You DON'T shoot to kill, you shoot to STOP the attack/threat. I could post a number of videos where the good guy DIDN'T stop the threat and ended up getting shot or stabbed as a result.
Stopping the threat means the attacker must be immobilized, and many times that also causes death.
A person or animal (synonymous sometimes) doesn't always stop the attack because of a superfluous injury, most cases it increases the ferocity of said attack. |
