My mother's family has traced genealogy to 1492. The first of the family in America came to Harlem in the early 1700’s.
That's a long way back. Any interesting stories that go with such a long history?
One branch on my family of English descent is documented back to 16-something. They were Salem witch burners and one relative was a pirate in the Caribbean. He got some piece of Jamaica in exchange for quitting piracy.
Other branches of the family include a lot of Germans, some Volga Germans, and Norwegians. Various members had farms in Illinois, Iowa, and North Dakota before everyone ended up in Oregon where I was born.
