West of Broken Bow | I've never been an executor, but have been a recipient of a will after a loved one passed. What I felt (and so did others) unfortunate was an executor decided to interpret the will differently than what his friend (the deceased) intended. The deceased person and executor had known each other since they were just boys. I'm guessing the executor did what he did to try and keep peace between the siblings. If the deceased knew what his friend the executor did after his passing, he would've been upset. It bothered me greatly to see what went on, but I stayed out of it.
Thankfully the situation calmed down and there wasn't a lawsuit over it.
Hopefully the wills can be so well written and precisely stated so that nobody can redefine the wording. It won't necessarily prevent hard feelings or squabbles, but at least it'll insure the deceased get things settled according to their wishes.
