Chebanse, IL..... | Ditto on ECB scouting PIA. Nothing new here, we did it also 'til Bt came along. The universities provided us with charts & worksheets showing how much damage we could tolerate. You walked a field, added up all the shot holes, etc, then computed. However, as I often pointed out to the university guys, their mathematical assumptions only took into account yield loss due to many things caused by ECB. But, what they did not account for in the charts was the huge aggravating, accident causing, & machine damaging (think rocks) work that happened once you started combining corn that was flat on the ground due to the ECB you didn't treat, or didn't discover. Might only be 10A in the middle of a 160A field...but it was trouble. They couldn't quantify that in worksheets they admitted. |
