I honestly wonder sometimes why between Democrats, a number of whom would love to turn our lands back to their native condition, and Republicans, who would cut every benefit to us and destroy ethanol even though we vote overwhelmingly for them, how there is still an RFS and Crop Insurance and ARC payments and an FSA.
Hunger is the main reason. I think behind closed doors, smarter people get to these representatives and tell them they have to make sure farmers get along because regular people will put up with a lot of things. But hunger is not one of them. Revolutions often have underlying factors, but their primary catalysts are typically war or hunger. I assume congressmen, senators, and presidents are briefed on the national security threat of starvation. | |
