I had to almost smile at the line about farmers having so much political clout. Maybe in some countries but not so here. We are the bottom of the food chain and I think most of the in between middle men make more off the grain we grow than we do. Subsidies? Our crop insurance is subsidised and we get a break on tax on farm fuel but other than that??? We spend our money and take our chances. Some years we make money, some not.
