Several years ago I saw a similar program about North Platte during WWII. I'll always consider the good folks of the North Platte area top-notch US citizens for their compassion and concern for all the servicemen who came through on the trains. What a way to welcome them to North Platte and bid them well on their journey. To have a program like they had going on all that time which totally focused on the servicemen is unbelievable.

We simply cannot forget what went on to start WWII, both in Europe and in the Pacific. I can't imagine the sacrifices that were made, as well as how many paid the ultimate sacrifice.

We need to keep pressure on our schools to have WWII as a substantial topic taught in history classes. There is so much to be learned from it.

God Bless all who served and those who are serving. Let freedom ring.
