I'd rent a car from and plan on spending a night in Flagstaff or at the Canyon. There is lots to see, if you enjoy different scenery. Pity to go that far and rush it into a 2 hour stop.
Could also stop at Hoover Dam on the return trip, or take a separate drive out to the dam.
