Subject: RE: How you make Seed vs. CP Decisions

Callao, Missouri
Welcome to agtalk.

Seed decisions: past experience first, university trials next, then friends experience, then dealer recommendations. Price has played a big role last yr and will again this year. I have really gotten tired of seed buying games/gimmicks... I just want to pay as little as possible upfront and not try 50 different angles to buy it.

Crop protection....have always felt that the fancier the name of the product, the more margin there is for the retailer/manufacturer. I try to buy generics whenever possible. Once again, I'm not interested in rebates, or bundling, or zero percent financing a padded price product. I've done all of that in the past and I guess I'm burned out on it.

Agtalk does play a large part in both decisions, in a few months you will start seeing a lot of posts about which chemicals to use.

As far as advertising strategy, I notice Ag has always had commercials that seem to be targeting us as simpletons...maybe we are. But it sure does get old listening to it.

I hope this helps.
