mid Illinois | If you buy rural king seed corn when they have their 12% rebate on, you can buy the non gmo for $79 a bag. My rural king corn yielded 15 bu/ acre less than 1311 pioneer, giving it a higher net per acre than the pioneer due to seed costs. I was all hept up about non gmo for next year until seeing my non gmo corn at harvest. Plant health was terrible, and corn borer all over the place. With more people planting non gmo, it appears things like corn borer are making a fast comeback, so now I am looking at traited corn again for next year. | |
