we use bin run wheat here been doing it for years I don't like it thick--- spread on worked in with VT tool 45# , drilled 30#-- wheat especially as far south as you are located will tiller a bunch IMO. so no reason to plant thick

If you can get it planted no reason to clean the wheat we usually don't
