| I know of a neighbor that is a good farmer and checks things pretty well.He has a newer JD planter with everything possible and also and older IH air planter units on a aftermarket tool bar.He did yield comparisons and told me there was virtually no difference in yield. We had the first air planters in the late 60s/70s and never liked the spacing but liked the speed and simplicity but went to Kinze and now JD and we now plant at 5.5MPH with a 32 row DB80 and planted at 7 1/2 MPH+ with a 12 row 800/and a 16row 955 and haven't seen much difference.I do know that all the attachments you can buy cannot do what Mother Nature can in timely rain and favorable weather. It is a billion $ business selling improvements for planters. | |
