At the planter clinic this spring, I believe it was recommended using the 3.5" blades when planting the majority of your ground in no-till. The thicker blades can't "flex" in no-till conditions which were resulting in a lot of problems. Not sure if this could be a culprit that some are seeing but thought I'd pass the message on.
