Agree that 6 cent posted bid price is probably not going to gain original poster a whole lot, even running his own truck. Maybe $20/load after wear and tear, but do agree with CM on the drive by deal. OP maybe needs to look into the discount schedules, as this might be why he is seeing all the trucks driving by to the other location. If he is hauling 15.5% corn to a local coop, he is likely getting dinged on shrink and maybe even drying charges. If the farther location is an e plant, likely no dockage up to 15.5% and possibly even a premium. While not common, there are a few places that pay a premium for #1 corn. 15.5% or less moisture, under 3% FM, under 2% damage. Same load could get docked at one location, while get a premium at another- even though posted bid is only 6 cents apart, could be a fair amount more in a case like this.
