West of Mpls MN about 50 miles on Hwy 12 | Sure I can, I'm not trucking for a living. It's border line, but I personally would do the extra time and miles. I need the truck for harvest, it costs me $x.xx/bushel every year just to have it around.
$60.00 more per load - 1/3 for fuel - 1/3 for the truck, leaves $20.00/load for me X 3 loads/day = $60.00/day for wages X 5 days = $300.00 extra spending money for the 5 day week or $0.02 net/bushel to me I did not have before.
And with a little luck the truck won't take 1/3 of the extra $0.06 for every single load...but the truck will eventually take it's 1/3 the way it seems.
And if the local grain buyer sees me drive by everyday for 5 days they just might bid only $0.03 less the next time I call for prices. Competition is a good thing.
And it sure helps make the payment on the lake home. :)
Reading on the machinery forum people have wasted more time, and put on more miles on a pickup trying to save $10.00 on some part.
