I would have the same question for Jon. I would say that there is no way any end user or merchandiser would know what the farmer has done with his hedging account. On top of the hedging there can be rolling back and forth and between years along with carry and the basis all that can make a big difference on what the farmers actually end up with. I seem to end up selling the majority of my crop to an end user when prices are poor because that is the best time to get a good basis. My cash sales look really bad but hopefully the end result is much better then just looking at the cash sale price.
