Subject: RE: Mining a farm

Mid-Michigan
I bought a farm that was "organic". But not in the terms of a true organic farmer that uses alternative methods to feed the plant/soil. He just didn't have any money. He kept planting for a few years then put it into CRP for 15 years. My first soil test was so screwed up that I didn't know where to start. Potash and Ph were easy to fix. Phosphorus was a totally different matter. It has taken me about 10 years to fix it. I found that just opening the gate and letting it fly wasn't the answer. If there is one that I wouldn't let get out of hand it's P.
