Subject: RE: Yellowstone

NW Mo
Lots of good advise already. We went from MO to Cheyenne one day, next to the Tetons. Spent a couple days there then on into the park next morning. Stayed at Lake Village in the cabins 3 nights. This was our second time to Yellowstone, did much more research before we went this time. Staying in the park was the best decision we made but spendy. Planned our route for each day to take full advantage of our time. Get up EARLY & get out at sunrise before the masses. Best thing we did, even with two teenage girls along. They loved it. We went second week of July.

Take the gravel roads inside the park off the beaten path. Map out what you think you want to see before going. We wanted to see waterfalls and there are many there along with much wildlife. Park road is a big figure 8 so we did a section or so each day. Can hike a bunch or drive and stop, either way, walk out away from the roads but always with someone. Yes, had a bear very close at the upper falls.

We left via the NE entrance. Someone mention Red Lodge and the Bear Tooth Highway. WOW, it is well worth the time to go out that way if you like awesome mountain drives and scenery. Then over to Custer and Mt Rushmore. Then the badlands and on over to Souix Falls. The city park there is awesome with the river and falls running through it. Great place for kids to climb rocks. Then on down I-29 to home. We took 6 days and would have liked another but had to get back for tournaments. Lots of driving but much fun and great memories! Book accommodations early.
