Last time I went I thought I was after school would of started, but up there they start a week or two later so the locals can see Yellowstone after it dies down. I would try to see Cody and the Buffalo Bill Museum if you like firearms, I spent a day and a half in the museum. Also bear tooth pass is awesome to see and Red lodge Montana is a fun town. I stayed in Cooke city which is just outside of the North east entrance, there is some decent cabins and such there that was reasonable.

I would plan on spending at least a week in the general area, It is one of the best vacations that I have taken. Make sure to take some good shoes, to see some of the sites you will have to walk some.
