NW Iowa | Getting spring soils to dry in good time can be challenging in upper Midwest climates, with damp and cooler spring seasons being the worst. Adding a residue mat, whether from previous crop or cover crops, can definitely add to the problem.
No-till beans following corn are not normally the first planted beans in this area. If you've ever seen the Mud Smith planter guage wheels, they don't make sense until you've accidentally plowed your planter through 50yds of trash-covered muck then spent the next hour taking guage wheels off to clean out. | |
