1000 trouble free hours - that's great. But will the r series give 10-15 k hours of hard work, without major electrical issues and failings? In my opinion, the 8x00 and 8x10 series Deeres will be the ultimate in reliability and sufficient comfort for many years. But each to their own I guess. I just don't see the point in getting new paint that is probably not as reliable as the older ones

People said the same thing about going from a soundguard to the new fangled 8000 series 15-20 years ago. A lot of people said the original 8000s were never gonna make it past 2000 hours without major issues with all the fancy electronics. 15 years from now the R's will probably be the ultimate in reliability compared to whatever they are making at the time.

+1....we have had a 1486, TW35, 4450, 8200, 8310, 6430, 9220 and currently have a Ford 2600, 966, 4320 8220, 8230, 8245R, and a 9360R We haven't had any more trouble with the newer "electronic" tractors than the older ones. Will they hold up at 15,000 hours? Don't know....I have no intention on keeping one that long. I love the cabs on the R series and are looking to upgrade either the 8220 or 8230 to another 8245R. Ours is a 2010 so it is pre-DPF. Personally I despise emission equipment more than electronics.
