Subject: RE: 8420 VS 8245R

Sunnyside, WA
We have a couple 8410's and an 8420. Bought an 8260R, 8270R, and 8310R, all ILS IVT in the last couple years. The 8260R and 8270R will pull right with our 8420, just a little behind our 8410's. ILS helps a lot. Ekotuned the 2 smaller 8R's 75 hp and now they will outpull the 8420 by 2+ mph all day long. 8310R is almost as good stock as the other 2.

Both 8410's are being retired from field duty. I would take an 8R for comfort any day over an 8X10. 8420 is still a nice tractor. Only reason I would upgrade to an 8R is if you get ILS for sure and maybe IVT. No matter what anyone says, the 8000's tend to start needing repairs at 6000 hours, a few more at 10,000 hours, and over 15,000 hours they start to get a little spendy. I have had good luck with the 8R's so far, but highest hour is the 8270R at ~3300 hours.
