Subject: RE: wheat after soybeans

South Central Illinois

Standard operating practice here.

Works best to harvest the beans first.

Vertical tillage works nicely then notill it.

Normally plant on 7.5 inch rows with a drill.

There are some people that plant on 15 inch rows with a bean planter.

There are ways to do that with Kinze brush meters and JD vac meters.

There may be a 10-15% yield reduction with 15" rows.

There may be an advantage when planting the double crop soybeans.

It is possible to plant the beans in the gaps and there is no need for the drill with this system.
