Iowa | What you just said is why I don't like the Dave Ramsey approach. His advice is great for people who don't understand and can't manage their finances, but as someone who actually grasps investing and can manage debt wisely, why in the world would I ever pay off my house early? I'm paying 2.5% interest on my mortgage and can easily average an 8% return investing in mutual funds. If I pay off my house early and reduce my investment accordingly, I would be giving away a 5.5% net gain every year. | |
