Central Illinois
For what it is worth, been fighting resistant TWH and Marestail for a few years now. Rules 1 and 2 need to be done NO MORE than 5 days ahead of the planter
Rule 1) Either work your ground to start with a clean seed bed (don't get caught replanting weeds that get past the cultivator)
or
Rule 1a) Spray a solid burndown, Sharpen is a MUST tank mixed with 1 to 1/2 pts 2,4-D Ester and glyphosate
Rule 2) Apply a solid residual product remember no more than 5 days ahead of the planter, around here Authority MTZ, Authority XL, and Boundary all have worked real well
Rule 3) Post emerge spraying is done according to weed size NOT soybean size, pop can high weeds, no bigger if you have TWH you will need to use a product like Flexstar GT, Cobra, or Ultra BLazer. The days of straight Roundup or straight Touchdown are OVER!
Rule 4) If you have a history of fighting TWH strongly consider adding Zidua to your post emerge trip

These rules are not cheap, the cheap days are over, there are no shortcuts to clean fields, the secret is not to let them emerge.

We are back to farming like we did prior to 1995 as far as weed control.

In the event you decide to try Liberty, Extend, or Enlist, do NOT try to cheat they system. Still use the residuals or you will find yourself back in a worse position than you are now very soon
