A much higher than 13 billion bushel corn crop was predicted by the USDA and almost every market guru before this planting season even started. And a 2 billion bushel carryover after the 2015 crop was assured. And....prices were going to be headed to the sub $3 area. Gotta love their optimism.
When you use absurd numbers to begin with it makes sense. These fields are not factories. We can't turn them on and off like a machine. Need to keep a little in the warehouse "just in case". Using historical numbers gets you close but to use a "weather adjusted" trendline when the trendline doesn't exist leaves room for disappointment. |
