You used the correct word when you said "assume". I could be wrong. It just seems to me that any of these legumes digest the organic matter to make nitrogen. Continuous soybeans will leave a field completely residue free. I agree with you that in the correct mix they probably aren't hurting organic matter. I would think that by themselves they would burn organic matter so if your only goal is to improve organic matter..............then something besides a legume might be a better fit. If saving money on fertilizer is your goal...........then what you did looks excellent to me. Again..............I'm just a student and am learning myself. Not hardly a teacher.
