south central MN | I had a computer that I did a clean install of Windows 8.1 that worked perfectly for 6 months then a Windows update came out that made it so it could no longer install updates and the apps in the metro screens would not work. I tried many things , going back to older system restore points and nothing would fix it. Took it to a local computer shop that is excellent with operating systems and they checked everything out and it was a Microsoft problem. Had to backup all things I wanted and do a new clean install of windows 8.1 and reinstall all backed up items. On the Internet computer forums you can find the updates to avoid to keep this from happening again. If I remember correctly they were in the Microsoft updates that came out in April 2014. | |
