I agree it is the landowners who let it happen, BUT they leasing agents travel around the community in a very subversive fashion preying on elderly landowners. Little things like, "you don't want to get your tenant involved in reviewing this lease or you might not get signed up and miss out on the money", or "you realize you are hurting the local school by not signing." My favorites are types of things like "it's not in the lease but we wouldn't do anything like put a tower without your approval" or "we'll work with the tenant to minimize the impact to him, just go ahead and sign. As soon as they figure out who the people are opposed to the wind farm they travel around the community running them down to every person the visit, to the point kids were coming to school telling their friend that their parents were "bad people" for not signing up. We had plenty of opportunities to sign wind leases, NO THANK YOU, we own land to farm it and be stewards of it. Take that govt. subsidized POS somewhere else. |
