Technically, to do this by the book, you need a load sense line connected from your flow control valve to the load sense input port on the tractor's power beyond block.

In actual practice, a hydraulic pump is only capable of responding to the load sense line calling for the highest demand. If one function has a load sense line calling for 1500 psi, and another function has a LS line calling for 2500 psi, the pump strokes out at 2500 psi, not 1500.

So, if multiple hydraulic functions will be in simultaneous operation, and one of the other functions will be driving the load sense line to a higher pressure anyway than your PB circuit will call for, you can get away with omitting the LS line, although if you experience any performance issues anywhere, just about the first thing you will be told by any service tech troubleshooting the issue is, "hook it up the textbook correct way".

Hydraulic drive, or any other hydraulic function which has a flow control downstream of the tractor's SCV, will always effectively drive the system to max standby pressure (2800-3000psi typical), any time that system is engaged.

Clear as mud yet?
