Subject: RE: Power beyond on PFC tractor

If you want a power beyond on an 8000 series that holds very steady flow rates I would recommend using a pressure compensated flow control and a load sense line running from the outlet of the pcf to the load sense plug in coupler on the tractor. If the tractor doesn't have the load sense coupler, there is a pricey kit from JD to put one on. It is trickier than it sounds. The kit includes a special fitting that screws into the top of the top plate on the rear stack valve and includes a flat disk that acts as a shuttle valve for the load sense circuit. Very important component. The fittings that come in the kit also includes a bent steel tube that connects into the tank port near the same place that you place the special fitting and disk valve. It contains an orifice that allows the circuit to bleed off when nothing is plugged into the load sense coupler. The reason for a pressure compensated flow control is it will allow true load sensing of the function such as the fan and will keep the speed fairly constant despite other functions on the tractor functioning and causing pressure variations in the system. If you try to use a simple needle valve, your fan speed will be all over the place when say raising the planter, or even steering if the tractor has integrated steering valve for auto steer. Good luck.
