Chaffee, Western New York | There is Math problems and then there are test taking problems.
My daughter was failing math tests with single digit scores in third grade. There are piles of TIMED tests with common core. The problem was that she had 3 seconds per question and did not get the test taking skills to do it in 3 seconds. She could do flash cards, she knew the material but was discouraged by the testing results and had nothing but hate for math. An hour of test skills and she got a 97% on her next test. If I hadn't got it nipped early she would have tuned out. |
