The gear drivetrain is really quite simple and inexpensive, and assures that the augers always turn at the same speeds.
I would choose the gear drive again as opposed to a hydraulic drive.

Edit: Plus when were are super busy we can leave an old tractor in the farmyard to run auger which only needs a PTO and have all there new tractors running in the fields. Last summer I had a Allis 210 from 70's just hooked at an auger full time.
