You mentioned travel. A tablet works well there. You definitely want the battery life and ease of use that a tablet provides. There are excellent games available for either Apple or Android devices.
I have a laptop, a desk computer, and a tablet. I find I use the tablet for 80% of internet surfing and 100% of games.
